Studio Policies

Dress Code

  • Ballet – Ladies should wear pink tights, leotard, hair in a bun, no cover-ups, no underwear.
  • Other Classes – Ladies should wear tight fitting tops and jazz pants. No regular bras. Sports bras only.
  • Boys – Should wear tight fitting t-shirt and jazz pants or ballet tights.
  • Shoes – Appropriate shoes are required – ballet shoes for ballet; jazz shoes for jazz; tap shoes for tap; bare foot for contemporary and lyrical; character shoes for musical theater. The instructor has the right to request the specific shoes that he/she desires.
  • Hair – Hair must be kept back, out of the face, and not interfere with class.



  • All registration fees and first months tuition are due by the first day of each class, per semester. A payment plan can be created with Kristin Jensen.
  • A non-refundable registration fee of $40 is due with the initial payment for the year/session. This fee is added to the total due and must be paid before the students spot is guaranteed in the class.
  • Advanced Dance Academy accepts cash or checks.
  • All checks should be made payable to Advanced Dance Academy.
  • A $25 fee will be charged for returned checks.
  • Students can withdraw from a class by the completion of the second class and receive a refund for the cost of the first two classes.
  • After the second class of the semester, all tuition is forfeited and no refunds will be offered.
  • ADA reserves the right to cancel any class due to insufficient attendance. Alternative placement or refunds will be offered under such circumstance.
  • Instructors are subject to change. No credits or refunds will be issued in this case.

Arrival and Attendance

  • Students arriving more than five minutes late to class will not be permitted to join. Late students may observe.
  • Children ages 8 and under MUST be accompanied by a parent/guardian or known adult when entering or exiting the building.
  • If students are early, students should wait in the lobby for their instructor.
  • If a student is more than 20 minutes early, they may be subject to a babysitting fee of $10 per occurrence.
  • Please have your child visit the restroom before class.
  • Students may change in the restroom before class.
  • Parents may wait in the lobby. Once a semester there will be an Observation Day when parents are invited inside the classroom to watch.


Classes and Instruction

  • ADA and its instructors are not liable for any injuries sustained while a student is in class or on the premises.
  • No video, audio, cameras, or any other recording devices are allowed in the studios, with the exception of parent observation days.
  • Parents are not allowed in the studios before or after class, with the exception of classes requiring caregiver participation.
  • For technique classes, the first day of class should be considered a placement day. ADA reserves the right to move students to the most appropriate class to fit their needs.
  • In the event that classes are canceled due to inclement weather, there will be either make-up days, credit, or refunds provided.

Behavioral Policy

  • No food, gum, or liquid other than water are permitted in the studio.
  • Parents will be notified and consulted regarding any in-class behavioral issues or questions.
  • If a child acts out in class in a manner that is harmful to him/herself or others, that child shall be removed from class and parents shall be notified immediately.
  • Children will be dropped from a class if their behavior interferes with safety or is chronically disruptive. We may recommend that your child be moved to a more appropriate class level if needed.
